Steve is father to Cole and Lane, who has 18p-. He has been an active Chromosome 18 member, co-chairing the 2013 Annual Family Conference. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, he is now a pediatrician in private practice in Savannah, GA. He completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University, his medical school training at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and his pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville & Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has a keen interest in medical coding, is a Certified Professional Coder with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), and was Chairman of the Committee for Coding and Nomenclature for the Georgia Chapter of the AAP for 12 years. Teaching is also important to him, as he was a former 7th & 8th grade Science teacher with the Teach for America National Corps. He continues to teach as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Mercer University School of Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, snow skiing, and SCUBA.
