Stacey has has been a member of the Registry since 2004 and Director of Social Media for 9 years. Stacey lives in Southern California with her family. She recently married Chad and has two girls, Sophia (age 25) and Amelia (age 22,Tetrasomy 18p). Stacey is Amelia's full time caregiver and taxi driver and enjoys working out at her gym, cooking, camping and being with family & friends.
Amelia was born in 2003. The first 6 months were not easy after dealing with a variety of health issues. After lots of doctor visits and tests, the family was referred to a genetics specialist. Just before Amelia’s 1st birthday, the genetic testing came back with the diagnosis of Tetrasomy 18p. Like many other families, they had no idea what this meant so Stacey went to the computer for answers. She found the Chromosome 18 Registry and immediately became a member and attended her first conference just a few months later. Since that time, her family makes their summer plans around the conference and looks forward to seeing their extended Chromosome 18 family each July. They have attended all but 2 conferences over the last 21 years.
Amelia is now transitioned to an adult day program and remains very active. She has been in a cheer abilities competition cheer team for 10 years and is involved in many special needs programs and events in their community.
Stacey loves the interaction with members and keeping everyone informed which is why she continues to volunteer her time to the Registry.
