My wife Tam and I were blessed with a baby boy, David Jr., in 1993. We found out about six months later that he had a rare genetic condition known as Tetrasomy 18p. There was very little known about his condition at the time. When David was 3, we discovered the Chromosome 18 Registry. I attended my first conference in Hershey, PA, and discovered the tremendous benefit of being with other families sharing similar challenges. We attended a few more conferences and then found ourselves transferred to Texas due to my job. Our family involvement with the Registry increased from that point and we made it a point to volunteer in whatever way we could.
