Karma Sawyer lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two sons. Her son, Steven, was diagnosed with Chromosome 18p- at age nine, and from that moment, her family knew they wanted to connect with others who share similar experiences. After attending their first Chromosome 18 conference in 2023, they immediately felt at home and have been active members of the community ever since.
Karma has worked in research her entire adult life and believes deeply in the power of science and engineering to improve lives. She brings that same spirit of curiosity and collaboration to her role on the Board of Directors for the Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society. When she’s not working, Karma enjoys cooking, yoga, and long walks—with a delicious snack always close at hand.
