The 2024 Starfish Dash Honoree – Lowrey Hight

Lowrey is our 15-year-old daughter who is gifted, loving, and awesome! She has Chromosome 18Q-, but that has never stopped her from living her best life. She is proud, kind, and so much fun! Lowrey loves school and learning. Science is her favorite subject, and she knows many facts about insects and animals. She attends a charter school in Fort Worth and takes classes like Latin, Literature & Composition, and Pre-Algebra. She makes A’s & B’s and seems to always impress her teachers!

In her free time, she loves to watch movies, gameshows and play video games. Her favorite game is any Mario Bros. game on her Wii or Switch. Her favorite foods are steak and sushi. She can actually eat an entire T-Bone all by herself!

Lowrey can light up a room with her smile, and she gives the best hugs. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her. We are so grateful to the Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Center for the continued support and research to make sure she can live a full and productive life full of great experiences.

Lowrey had been chosen to be this year’s honoree for the Chromosome 18’s 7th Annual Starfish Dash 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair that is an official Fiesta Event. We feel very fortunate that we live very close to the Chromosome 18 Clinical Research Center that is the only dedicated Chromosome 18 research center in the world. We love that their vision is that one day, children with chromosome 18 abnormalities will have the same aspirations and achievements in life as their siblings. We appreciate all the support, hope, and words of encouragement the research team has given us throughout these years.

Lowrey lives in Haslet, Texas with her mother and father, Spencer and Jodi Hight.
