Any Baby Can Resource Guide – The parents and staff of the Reaching Families Facing Autism (RFFA) Parent Education groups have compiled the following guide. The goal of this resource guide is to provide families with all available information so that they can make the most informed decisions regarding their child with autism. Camp C.A.M.P. (Center Point, Texas) – Series of six-day, five-night sessions for children and adults, aged 5 to 50 years, with a variety of special needs, and their siblings. Includes activities like canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, music, sports & recreation, arts & crafts, and outdoor cooking. Modifies traditional summer camp activities to include everyone, regardless of the severity of the camper’s physical or developmental needs. Price determined by household income. Scholarships and financial aid available.
Camp Blessing (Brenham, Texas) – Camp ministry offering all of the traditional summer camp activities customized for full participation for all levels of ability, including wheelchair, crutch, and walker users. Camp Blessing is focused on showing the encompassing love of Christ to those who often experience exclusion, ridicule and self-esteem-damaging treatment by peers.
Camp Summit (Dallas, Texas) – Camp ensures that all activities are adapted so that everyone can participate. With specialized equipment and trained, caring staff, campers can enjoy a truly barrier-free camp experience with traditional activities like horseback riding, archery, swimming, ropes course, arts & crafts, sports & games, and much more. Ages 6 and up. Price determined by household income. Scholarships and financial aid available.
Children with Special Health Care Needs Program (Texas HHS) – children 20 and younger who have special health care needs and people with cystic fibrosis of any age improve their health, well-being and quality of life. All services must be medically necessary. These include:

- Family support services
- Medical
- Mental health
- Case management
- Special medical equipment and supplies

Disability Access Advisory Committee – established by the City Council to work closely with the Disability Access Office as part of San Antonio’s efforts to provide accessible services and facilities for citizens with disabilities. The Advisory Committee consists of consumers with disabilities, providers of services to people with disabilities and interested San Antonio residents. There are currently five vacant positions on the Disability Access Advisory Committee. If you are interested in becoming a member of this Advisory Committee please submit an application.
Disability SA – The mission of Disability SA is to educate, advance, and engage individuals with disabilities by sharing information, creating opportunities, and strengthening organizations that serve them.
Disability SA connects people with all types of disabilities and their families to information about local resources, programs, and opportunities that promote independence and inclusion where they live, work and play.
Down Home Ranch (Elgin, Texas) – A working farm and ranch, founded in 1989 by parents of a young daughter born with Down syndrome four years prior. The Ranch was inspired by the writings and work of Jean Vanier, Henri Nouwen, and Rudolf Steiner and driven by the lack of resources available to adults with intellectual disabilities. $900 fee for attending the camp. Financial aid is available upon request.
Early Childhood Intervention Services (Texas HHS) – A statewide program for families with children birth up to age 3, with developmental delays, disabilities or certain medical diagnoses that may impact development. ECI services support families as they learn how to help their children grow and learn.
Eligibility Determination for IDD Services (Bexar County) – A psychological evaluation, called a Determination of an Intellectual Disability (DID), is conducted in accordance with state law and HHSC rules to determine if a person has an intellectual disability, developmental disability, or a related condition, or is a member of the HHSC intellectual and developmental disability priority population. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (Bexar Country) – The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) supports individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) or related conditions, living in Bexar County, to improve their quality of life and to ensure that they can actively participate as valued members of our community. We understand the challenges that often accompany an IDD diagnosis in areas such as language, mobility, learning, self-help skills, and independent living. AACOG has a highly trained and caring staff that can guide you throughout the process to access available services and supports. A list of services provided can be found here and here. Each owner/operator may determine specific admission criteria and maintain their own interest list. Special Reach – The mission of Special Reach is to provide dynamic enrichment programs such as summer and day camps for children with special needs as well as respite for their families.
Talking Book Program – A free library service for any age Texan who has a visual or physical disability – whether temporary or permanent – that keeps them from reading regular size print. Books are available in large print, braille, or audio recordings.
Texas State Supported Living Centers – 13 campus-based Texas facilities where staff focuses on intensive and specialized services for individuals with severe intellectual disabilities and/or those with medically fragile conditions.
