Elizabeth (Liz) Shaffer, currently serving her first year on the Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society, is excited to make a difference in promoting awareness of the Registry’s goals and hope for those families impacted by the rare Chromosome 18 abnormalities.

Liz, resides in the foothills of Rio Verde, Arizona with her husband John and their English bulldog, Sherman. They are parents to Sophia, 18q -, now 28, living on her own and working in the nearby community of Fountain Hills, Arizona. Liz and family first became aware of the research of Registry founder Dr. Jannine Cody, approximately 18 years ago, continuing to following her developments since.

Liz graduated from Indiana University Mauer School of Law and is a practicing attorney, achieving admission to the United States Supreme Court in 2016. She currently serves as in house counsel for Rhino Sports Inc. Also, recently, Liz embarked on a new career in nursing, graduating with a bachelor of science from the University of Utah and works in the operating room 3 days a week when not lawyering.

Liz’s combination of business, medicine and law have brought a unique perspective of insight for the number of boards and leadership positions for which she has served in enriching the local communities.
