For many, Claudia Traa is a familiar face within the Registry. Claudia served as The Registry’s first Executive Director from September 1999 to August 2014. Claudia is married to Jim and they have three children, Ross, 27, Kendall, 25, and Brenna, 21. Ross was born in 1995 with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. After Ross was diagnosed with 18p-, Claudia quickly connected with The Registry to find out as much as she could to help her child and her family. When Ross was 18 months old, they moved by chance from Norfolk, Virginia, where Jim served as a Supply Officer in the Navy, to San Antonio, Texas to begin Jim’s civilian career. After volunteering and helping with the San Antonio conference, Claudia began her official role with the Registry. There were only two part time employees at that time. Claudia ran the first golf tournament for The Registry, followed by 14 more. She helped with many firsts for The Registry and is proud to continuing raising funds and awareness for this one-of-a-kind, ground-breaking organization.
Ross is currently a senior at Texas Tech University and is doing a great job facing challenges and navigating life, which we know can be difficult for everyone. Claudia and her family are forever grateful to the Registry for all of its’ support and she is so happy to be part of the new Board.
