Traveling through the United States and Europe over the past 22 years with their two children, Gunnar and Ella has been an extraordinary experience. Leah’s worked in the profit and nonprofit sector for over 15 years and has a passion for working with children with disabilities, which started when she was quite young. Her childhood friend and neighbor, a young boy with Down syndrome, would play games with her, usually Pac-Man for Atari. After his passing, Leah joined his family’s memorial organization, SPARCs (Special People Are Really Cool), one of the first organizations in Montana to foster and promote relationships between children with and without disabilities. Later, she cared for a teen with cerebral palsy while in college and was a respite care provider, caring for a non-verbal autistic boy in Germany.

She’s been an avid volunteer, earning the Order of Saint Joan D’Arc, President’s Volunteer Service Award & Good Samaritan Award for her service with the Red Cross, United Service Organization, Family Readiness Groups, Colorado Springs Police Department, Department of Defense Education Activity, and Army Community Services.
